Description of position DC09
Title of the project
Functionalization and labelling of recombinant proteins with sugars for NMR interaction studies
Description of the project
The candidate will be engaged in a multifaceted role within the Marie Curie ENSCC project, focusing primarily on the expression and purification of recombinant proteins and their conjugation with sugars, polymers, and biopolymers. A pivotal task for this purpose will be the development of a robust protocol for the expression and purification of selected proteins, also isotopically enriched (with 2H, 13C and/or 15N) for both solution and solid state NMR analysis.
The candidate will also be responsible for the characterization of these proteins and their conjugates using conventional biophysical methodologies (as ITC, sec-mals, ligh-scattering, …)
The training component of this position will impart expertise in molecular biology, particularly in the expression and purification of isotopically enriched proteins in E. coli, as well as proficiency in biophysical techniques such as FPLC, HPLC, CD, MALS-QELS, NMR.
Expected outcomes of this project include equipping the Doctoral Candidate (DC) with a solid foundation in molecular biology. Expected results from DC-9’s work includes the production of tailor-made glycosylated and labelled proteins. These proteins will be crucial for advanced structural studies, utilizing glycoproteins with CBMs developed in the ENSCC.
This work will culminate in posters, publications, oral presentations and a Ph.D. thesis.
